Presence Ministries concluded its eighteenth annual conference, Transmillennial 2006, with a rousing call to a Year of Love. Kevin Beck, President of Presence, called on the international audience to experience the theme of the conference, It’s All About God. Beck commented, “To be all about God is to be all about love.” Transmillennial 2006 speakers addressed a variety of specific topics. Max King explored the depths of resurrection, the work of Christ, and the first-century ekklesia. He offered a fresh textual analysis of 1Corinthians 15, focusing on the New Testament ideas of resurrection from (not just of) the dead. Max King’s pioneering theological work created the field of covenant eschatology thirty-five years ago with the publication of The Spirit of Prophecy. Max’s current studies in the Book of Romans are opening new ways of seeing God’s creative work. Other conference highlights included Bill Vradenburgh’s survey of the Psalms. He explored the theme of hesed (covenantal faithfulness) as it relates to the voice of Christ and the firstfruits. Amie May looked at satan and demonology from a theological, covenantal, and sociological perspective. Joe Lewis set the Book of Hebrews in its first-century setting, and Fred DeFalco inspired the entire conference with his breathtaking vision for personal transformation. Rick Crotts exposed the destructive tendencies of viewing God as being double-minded, and David Timm offered a grand vision for enacting a creative eschatology. Frank Spencer of Banner of the Nations explored strategic foresight as an integral component to new covenant futures. Kevin Beck closed the conference with an invitation for people to rethink how they envision God, others, and the world in which we live. He described this approach as Agapetheism. Beck noted, “Agapetheism is viewing God in terms of love, not number. This will empower us to embody the great commandment to love God by loving others.” He requested that people contact him with their stories of success and struggle with love. One Transmillennial attendee stated, “Since the conference I have several people that want to come to the next one already. YOUNG ones -- Teenagers! Can you believe that! It's a miracle. They want so badly to have a positive outlook when all they hear is a negative one.” Another participant noted, “This is the best conference I have ever been at. I can’t wait until Transmillennial 2007.” Transmillennial 2007 is tentatively scheduled for June 13-16, 2006. The site and conference theme will be released soon.
