Texas Conference a Great Success
by staff writer, Jan 28, 2008

People from six nations and three continents gathered with the Sjolander Road Fellowship in Baytown, Texas for the third annual Transmillennial® Texas regional conference. The theme, Created for Perfection, explored theological perspectives and the practical outworking of the fulfillment of all things.

Doug King presented three inspiring sessions that explored the difference between finding identity by our thinking and allowing our identity to determine our thinking. He provided a fresh reading of the Biblical story that illustrates the deceptive practice of attempting to live by arbitrary standards of good and bad. He showed the real-life transformation that occurs when we discover God’s perfection in us.

Mike Williams of Gospel Revolution spoke about God’s perfecting work through Christ. He showed the ministry of Christ to be the fulfillment of the Law and Prophets that brings grace to all.

Allen Brooks hosts the radio program Bible Commentary. He shared his amazing story of transformation. In the early 1970s, Allen was introduced to Hal Lindsey’s book, The Late Great Planet Earth. This led him into dispensational premillennialism and its destructive outlook. While pastoring a church, he was asked to address a member who held a different view. They held several long conversations, and in the course of just a few months Allen found Max King’s book, The Cross and the Parousia of Christ. This opened his eyes to a new way of seeing the Bible and allowed him to resolve severe life-threatening issues in his own family.

Amie May, of WomenBeyond, spoke about Healing the Wound. She illustrated how the process of integrating the seemingly disparate parts of our lives and psyches can heal feelings of inner fragmentation. This healing can result in a richer life experience. Commenting on Amie’s presentation, one internet participant said, “Nicely done!”

Tim King, of Presence International, explored the harmful effects of judgment. He showed how the fulfillment of all things leads away from uniformity of thought and expression. Instead, it broadens out into an unlimited expression of love and creativity.

Kevin Beck, of Presence International, spoke abut Loving Perfection. He began with Jesus’ instruction for his original audience to love their enemies. He showed how their loving participation “in Christ” redeemed the world. The transformation of the ages through God’s love for his “enemies” results in a New Heaven and New Earth (or a New Order) that is characterized by grace. From there, he showed how Agapetheism (God is Love) and Agapeology (Love God and love others) is the only sustainable transforming power that allows people to hold onto their integrity while not judging others.

One conference attendee said, “This was an amazing weekend. I learned. I laughed. I cried. I’m leaving this place with a better feeling about God and myself. Thank God I can finally see how loving and how gracious God really is. We live in a New Heaven and earth, and my life is going to be changed by it forever.”

Kevin Beck commented, “We at Presence International love coming to Baytown. This is an amazing group of people who really embody the perfection God has given us all. I’m so excited that Mike Williams and the folks with Gospel Revolution were able to participate this week, and I’m looking forward to walking together with so many new friends.”

Recordings of the conference will be available soon.
