Webcasts for Bible Studies

webcastsIn response to viewer demand, Presence Ministries is now making its "Presence Today" webcasts available for download, through its new Webcasts Download Center. Since opening our Download Center, we have had healthy traffic taking advantage of this FREE feature.

Until recently, the "Presence Today" webcast was only available for online viewing through the "RealOnePlayer" format. The program would stream to the viewer's computer, but it would not be saved to that computer for later viewing. Archiving the program at our Download Center allows viewers to store the program on their own computer and view it while not connected to the internet, using the RealOnePlayer. This particularly helps those with older dial-up modems, that due to external factors, don't achieve a 33-baud rate to view our streamed programs.

"Presence Today" features a recorded video feed of Tim King, along with "PowerPoint" slides, usually lasting 5-7 minutes.

Webcast Bible Studies"We are excited about what our Download Center offers," Tim King says. "Now anyone can store our webcasts on their computer and play them for their family or small group Bible study via their computer."

We recommend using a PC to TV "scan converter" to display the program on your large screen TV if you are hosting a Bible study and wish to draw upon Tim King as a guest teacher. See the TView Gold II product by Focus Enhancements that retails for $199.95. E-bay.com often has it for 30% less.

Our "webcasts" download area allows you to save our webcasts on your own computer. The webcast files are compressed in .zip format, and labeled in YYMMDD format. For example, the webcast from March 12, 2003 is labeled "030312-lastdays-p1.zip". Once you are in the Download Center, you click on the file or its icon to the left to download it to your hard drive. The files range between 1.5 and 2.0 megabytes.

Once the file is in your computer, you will need to "unzip" or unpack it. If you don't have a "Winzip" utility like that, go to http://www.download.com and search for "winzip" and browse the various utilties you can use to unpack file. Download and install that utility program. Our media files unzip into their own folder, named after the file.

To play the webcast, open the new webcast folder on your computer and click "index.html." This will start up your browser and offer you a "view presentation" button you can click. Once clicked, that starts up RealOnePlayer on your system, offline, to view the webcast. A second way of launching the program is to start up RealOnePlayer from your computer and then use "file", "open", "browse" feature to find the unzipped webcast folder, and open the "rnhigh.rm" file.

Permission is given to use these presence.tv webcast files on your own computer. Files may not be reposted on a website, or converted into video, audio or print products, or bundled in any way onto CD or DVD disk. Graphic files within the collections may not be reused in any other medium, including on the web or in print materials.

Let us know how you you like this new feature of viewing webcasts offline, and especially if you are using these in a group Bible study context. Contact us.
