Transformations is a 6-week online course that helps you explore how to experience transformation in your life, family, faith community, vocation, and world. Our Spring 2009 session will run six Thursday evenings online from April 2d through May 7th, 2009 at 8 pm Eastern time.

Orientation to our live-web training room will run the week before. All you need to attend is a PC web browser and an internet connection.

What is the Transformations Study Program?

Transformations is a 6-week course exploring how covenantal transformation affects societal, organizational and personal change.

Can I take the program if I am working off a Mac rather than a PC?

Yes.

The course syllabus seems to cover more than just Bible Study. Is this the program for me?

The Transformations Study Program is not a Bible study. We focus on dynamics, not doctrines. The aim is to help you relate the changing of the covenants to what is happening in your personal life, workplace and community. We may start with the biblical story, but that knowledge enlarges and becomes trans-disciplinary in nature.

The course draws from multiple fields, including theology, history, sociology, organizational development and future studies to help you become more conscious of what God is doing in our world.

Beyond the conceptual focus, you will reflect on how learning works in your life, your organization, and your community. You will find how you can take yourself and others to a higher level.

Are there reading assignments?

No reading is required. There are no required textbooks, but Presence provides a recommended reading list. All of these titles are available through the Presence bookstore.

In each session, we will form online groups to discuss that week's topic and its meaning for your personal setting. In the days between sessions, you will be able to express your thoughts and reflections on our private course message board.

If I register, would my spouse also need to register?

We encourage "visitors" such as spouses or friends to sit in. But we do ask that everyone registers. This is to insure that they can participate in the weekly cycle of audio briefings, lecture, discussion and written posts.

Could I gather a small group in my home to participate in the program?

Yes. We hope you will invite your friends to participate in your home. We simply ask that all participants register. Although each participant can always "attend" class from their own computer, we encourage you to gather a study group locally to experience the program each night.

When more than two people regularly gather, you may want to connect your PC to a regular TV by using a scan converter. This hardware device "sends" what you see on your computer screen to your TV, and works on large screen TVs as well. See the TView Gold II product by Focus Enhancements that retails for $199.95. E-bay.com may have it for 30% less.

Do I need a web-cam in order to participate?

No.  You will be connected via live audio and text chat to all other participants who enroll. You are free to use your web-cam, if you have one, when you instant message others in the program.  

Yes, we have four "intensitive" courses that will follow-up Transformations. These will help you further explore the Covenantal, Personal, Organizational and Societal dimensions of biblical transformation. The prerequisite for each of the four-week courses is the 6-week Transformations course. These intensives are designed for you to master the concepts at a deeper level.

Also, Transformations alumni are invited to participate in the ZONE, the monthly online cafe where we can explore Transformation in a more casual atmosphere.  To learn more about the ZONE, contact Kevin Beck at kevin@presence.tv.
